Mine Services

The Mine Services department of Modular Mining will help you uncover and address opportunities for improvement in many areas of your operations. Our Specialist Mine Engineers will visit your site to gather information and interview key people. After a comprehensive evaluation, we will prepare an analysis with concrete recommendations for improvements.

This thorough process may involve several steps including a System Audit, Engineering Analysis, and Performance Analysis. Corporate Benchmarking is also available to compare mines within a company. In addition, accredited training programs and help with implementation are available.

Modular has a proven record of delivering Mines Services over many years. We're with you every step of the way, to help you identify opportunities and manage improvements.

System Audit

The System Audit is the starting point. It is a review of data integrity, hardware and software configurations, and utilization. It focuses on the overall setup in the dispatch tower or office, management of the database, use and configuration of the DISPATCH® system, use of other IntelliMine® tools available, as well as reporting and dispatcher skills.

From the audit report you can expect a number of benefits. Management and dispatch personnel will have a better understanding of the system and how it is integrated with mine operations. Data integrity will improve, as well as confidence in the accuracy of reporting. Training needs will be identified, and proper use of the system will be confirmed.

Engineering Analysis

The Engineering Analysis is a systematic review of dispatch and mine operating practices. It builds on the System Audit and further analyzes the impact of data on dispatching and reporting. The analysis results in a better understanding of the dispatching and operational factors that affect mine productivity. Simulations are used to test, validate and quantify engineering and dispatching recommendations.

The major benefit of an Engineering Analysis is to highlight opportunities for increasing mine productivities through dispatching and recommended operating practices.

Performance Analysis

Performance Analysis is a systematic examination of excavator, haul truck, dump, and crusher capacity and productivity factors using normalized data. Under-performing equipment is highlighted and explained. The analysis of KPIs is used to provide insightful information related to availability, utilization and performance. New or further developed site-specific KPIs are recommended. Reporting parameters are identified and remapped in preparation for future benchmarking studies.

There are often tangible, actionable steps resulting from the Performance Analysis, which, if implemented, can produce immediate and sustainable economic benefits. Prior to performing a Performance Analysis, a System Audit must be completed.

Corporate Benchmarking

From the Performance Analyses carried out at multiple mines within the same company, a detailed benchmarking analysis is created in which Key Performance Indicators for equipment availability, utilization, and performance are compared for all mines within that company. This way, productivity improvements can be identified and targeted on a system-wide basis, in addition to individual sites. This provides a powerful management and planning tool for fine-tuning your operations.
