Restructuring For Improved Customer Focus

Tucson, Arizona - January 11, 2002

Modular Mining Systems, the global leader in Mine Management Systems, with over 130 systems successfully placed world wide, is restructuring its business to serve customers more effectively by focusing its resources through regional centers of excellence.

Modular is responding to both customer expectations and the need to develop more efficient business practices. These changes will allow the Company to maintain a regional staff of highly trained professionals ready to serve customers beginning with the proposal process through installation and commissioning to long-term customer care.

To complement existing regional centers in Africa, Australasia, and Latin America, Modular is establishing a fourth business unit for North America, based in Tucson, Arizona with an office in Vancouver, Canada, to focus on clients in the United States and in Canada. Each business unit is autonomous with a multi-disciplined, experienced staff of professionals ready to meet the demands and expectations of regional customers.

To support these business units, Modular’s core corporate center, also located in Tucson, has been scaled to focus on strategic planning, product development, and the coordination of worldwide marketing and sales.

The Company is consolidating and streamlining its operations to be more market driven and customer focused. Modular’s Account Managers are the key for aligning the company with customer business needs.
