Modular Mining Systems, Inc., introduces the PowerView Reporting System—a new report-generating application that stores a wealth of information in its database and can be used to create, in seconds, virtually any type of Windows-based report on load, haul, or dump operations.
As a part of Modular’s world-class IntelliMine® mine management system, the PowerView™ Reporting System is designed to provide an information link between mine management, operations, and equipment working in the field. The system’s unique ability to flag anomalous data allows mine managers to base critical decisions on data collected during real-time operations.
“Report users can now have much higher confidence that numerical results reflect the true condition of their mining operation,” notes Martin Farrow, Business Development Manager of Modular’s Australian Division. “And because the system is able to filter data, management has an incredibly powerful tool for making informed operational decisions.”
The PowerView™ Reporting System is based on an open data access platform that utilizes a number of standard, commercially available software packages combined into one simple-to-use reporting program. Because the system runs in a Windows environment, where users can select from a set of standard reports or click-and-drag icons to create their own customized reports, the system is intuitive to use and easy to navigate—even for the beginner.
The system utilizes multi-dimensional data cubes and OnLine Analytical Processing (OLAP), which provide the ‘power’ to effectively manipulate large and complex data sets and make obtaining reports virtually effortless for the user. This combination of ‘ease-of-use’ with the ability to handle large sets of complex data seamlessly is what differentiates the PowerView™ Reporting System from other reporting applications.
In addition, PowerView™ Reporting System provides features such as user configurability, security, data filtering, drill-down and data analysis capability, and reduced maintenance requirements. Reports can be viewed remotely from any PC with a browser and connection to a VPN or LAN.
“We are seeing an increased demand for accurate data analysis from mine managers who want to increase their productivity and have greater flexibility in their business,” said Ken Bradley, Modular’s Product Manager for PowerView™.
The system is ODBC compliant and data can easily be exported to a spreadsheet for additional processing and presentation, with automatic data updates to the spreadsheet when the connection to the server is maintained.
