Cerro Colorado Chooses IntelliMine® System Tucson, Arizona – March 28, 2003 Modular Mining Systems, Inc., the world leader in computer-based solutions for maximizing mine productivity, has received an order to install its IntelliMine® integrated mine management system at Compañía Minera Cerro Colorado Ltda. Cerro Colorado is an open pit copper mine located in the Atacama Desert, 120 kilometers east of Iquique, in Northern Chile's region I, approximately 2,600 meters above sea level. The IntelliMine® system selected by Cerro Colorado consists of MasterLink™, the wireless network communications backbone; ProVision™, the high-precision GPS system for dozers, shovels, and drills; DISPATCH®, the industry standard dispatching system designed to provide automatic, optimized haul truck assignments; and MineCare™, the interactive maintenance management system that allows users to access up-to-the-minute operating information over the internet. "Fellow BHP Billiton mine, Minera Escondida, is also installing an IntelliMine® system in Chile," noted Scott Baker, General Manager of Modular's Latin American Division. "With concurrent installations Cerro Colorado and Escondida can jointly configure the operations, maintenance, and data management modules to maximize corporate synergies and regional efficiencies." Cerro Colorado will employ the IntelliMine® system on a variety of equipment including: 26 trucks, 8 loaders, 6 dozers, 3 drills, 3 graders, and 7 pieces of auxiliary equipment. Installation is scheduled for May with start up anticipated in August 2003.
